The Shopmium app is an app that is popular amongst the budgeting and finance community. After seeing it a few times on Instagram, I decided to download it and give it a go. I love shaving money so the Shopmium app seemed like something I would love!
The Shopmium app gives you discounts on products from the main supermarkets, some of them, are even free.

About Shopmium
If you’re wondering ‘what is Shopmum?’ then, simply put, Shopmium is a mobile app that allows users to find discounts and cashback offers on grocery and household items. The app is free to download and use and is available for both iOS and Android devices.
To use the app, you can browse through a list of available offers and select the ones you want to take advantage of. There are Shopimum deals for most of the major supermarkets. You can then purchase the items at any participating store and submit a photo of your receipt through the app to receive their cashback.
Shopmium offers a range of discounts and cashback offers, including deals on food and beverages, pet food, personal care items, and more. The app also features exclusive offers that can only be found on Shopmium.
You can also earn rewards by referring friends to the app. When a friend signs up using a referral code, both the user and the friend receive a reward.
Shopmium is designed to be easy to use and offers a variety of features to help users save money on their grocery and household purchases. The app is available in several countries, including the UK, France, and Germany, and has a large user base of bargain-hunting shoppers.
How does Shopmium work?
It’s simple really! Just follow these steps:
- Sign up to Shopmium
- View the offers on the supermarkets you shop at
- Buy the items
- Open the Shopimum app to select the piggy bank button
- Scan your receipt (online or instore receipt)
- Scan the barcode of the product
- Get your cashback via Paypal within 48 hours
It’s so easy to do. I bought my products with my Tesco Online order and uploaded the receipt right away.
How long to Shopimum take to pay?
I uploaded the receipt at about 6 pm and I got my money back the following afternoon. According to the Shopmium website, it takes an average of 3 days to receive payment.
How does the Shopmium app make money?
Shopmium makes money through partnerships with brands. Brands pay to have their products featured to encourage people to buy them. This is why you see many new products or brands in the app.
How much do you need to cash out Shopmium UK?
There is no minimum payment on Shopmium, so you can cash out whenever you want.
What I got from Shopmium
Here are the products I got from Tesco the first time I used the Shopmium app:

Kinder Slice: Paid £1, got £1 back = free.
Shreddies: Paid £2.50, got £1.50 back so paid £1 total.
Mushroom Burgers: paid £3.50, got £1.75 back, paid £1.75
Meatless farm mince: Paid £2.50, got £1.50 back, paid £1.
Meatless farm sausages: Paid £2, got £1 back, cost £1.
From these items, they were worth £11.50 and I got £6.50 cashback.
I only got products we would use, we eat meat-free products often so we used them all and I have cereal in the morning. I got the Kinder slice instead of cereal bars that I would have for a snack.
How to make the most of the Shopmium app
It’s easy to get carried away with these apps and get everything, but it’s worth considering if a product will actually save you money. Remember, we are using this app to SAVE money, not buy extra things we don’t need! I think because you get money back after, it feels like a good deal. But just try and treat it as you would any offer at the supermarket. You don’t go and buy every offer in the supermarket just because it’s on offer, right? You just get the products you need!
There were a lot of drinks on there that I wouldn’t buy normally so it was pointless for me to get them as I was still paying for them. For example, some cans of Dark Cherry and Pomegranate sparkling water were £4 for six small cans, with £1.50 off. I would have paid £2.50 for them if I had bought them (after cashback), but it’s not something I would buy normally or something I need so I passed.
I’ve split the types of savings into different categories.
A free product that saves you money
This is a product that has saved you money. For example, if you have got a product for free but bought it as a replacement for something you would have bought instead. Let’s say, a packet of pasta that cost £2 to replace a packet of own-brand pasta that costs 50p. I’d personally only class that as a saving of 50p.
A free product that doesn’t save you money
This is something you wouldn’t usually buy but is an extra treat! Maybe a chocolate bar or a fancy drink. This is more of just a freebie rather than something that’s saved you some cash!
Money off/cashback that saves you money
If you usually buy a different brand that costs £2, but this one is £2 with £1 back, then you have saved about £1 as this is what you’ve not bought in your shopping.
Money off/cashback that doesn’t save you money
If you usually buy a different product that costs £1, but buy a product that is £2 with £1 cashback then you haven’t saved money, you are just trying a more expensive product for the same price of your normal product (this can still be fun!)
Cashback that costs you money
This is if you usually buy a product that costs you £1, but are trying a different one that costs £2 with 50p cashback – you’re actually spending an extra 50p. Or a product that you wouldn’t usually buy at all that costs £2 but you get £1. Then you have spent an extra £1.
I’m not saying any of these are bad, as it’s fun to try new products! But if you are on a strict budget it’s important to be aware if you have actually saved money or spent more as you’ve bought something that was on offer for the sake.

Owhh this sounds like a great cashback app! I’ve not heard of it before but I’ll be looking into your referral link x
Nice products, and definitely amazing that you can save money when shopping.
I’ve not actually heard of Shopimum before, but it sounds great. I think you’re so right in what you say about only buying the things you’d actually usually buy. I think it’s easy to get carried away when you see bargains are out there to be had.

I hadn’t hear of this app before but it sounds amazing! I think I spend more on food than anything else, so this will be handy for sure! Completely agree that you shouldn’t buy things just because they are on offer if it’s not something you would eat, went down that road far too many times x
Hello, oh wow, I’ve not heard of Shopimum before but I am going to check it out now. I can’t believe how many brands are involved, will be checking out this app now. Thanks for sharing! Alicia
