If you’re a Santander customer, Santander Boosts is one of those things that takes about ten minutes to set up and then quietly earns you money in the background. I’ve been using it since it launched and it’s become a regular part of how I approach online shopping — not as a replacement for TopCashback, but as an extra thing to check before I spend.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Quick summary: Santander Boosts is a free cashback and rewards programme for Santander debit and credit card holders. You get cashback (typically 0.5% to 10%), vouchers, and prize draws from hundreds of retailers. You must click through the Boosts platform before shopping to earn — it doesn’t apply automatically.

What Is Santander Boosts?
Santander Boosts is a cashback and rewards platform exclusive to Santander UK customers with a debit or credit card. It launched in November 2022, replacing the old Retailer Offers scheme.
Think of it as Santander’s own version of TopCashback — but built into your banking app and available only to their customers. The cashback rates are generally lower than dedicated cashback sites, but it’s free to use and requires no separate account to manage.
The types of rewards on offer:
- Cashback on purchases at participating retailers (usually 0.5% to 10%)
- Discount vouchers
- Prize draws — some free to enter, some requiring a qualifying purchase
- Instant wins
- Exclusive time-limited offers
⚠️ May 2026 Update: How Cashback Is Paid Is Changing
This is worth knowing if you’re an existing user.
From 13 May 2026, Santander is changing how cashback is paid. Instead of going directly to your linked Santander card, cashback will now be paid via bank transfer. According to Santander, this means you’ll get your cashback faster and have more flexibility over where the money lands.
If you’re a current Boosts user, check your settings and make sure your payment details are up to date — you may need to confirm your bank account information.
How Santander Boosts Works
The crucial thing to understand is the click-through requirement. Unlike the old Retailer Offers scheme where cashback applied automatically, Boosts requires you to actively click through from the platform before you shop. If you go directly to a retailer’s website without clicking through first, it won’t track and you won’t earn anything.
Step 1: Sign up
Log into the Santander mobile app or online banking, find Santander Boosts in the menu, and register. You’ll link your Santander debit or credit card and choose your interests to get personalised offers.
Step 2: Browse offers
Head to boosts.santander.co.uk or find it in your banking app. Offers are organised by category — fashion, tech, food, travel, home, and more.
Step 3: Click through before shopping
Find the retailer you want, click “Shop now” or “Get offer”, and you’ll be redirected to their site. Complete your purchase using your linked Santander card. Don’t switch devices or browser tabs mid-purchase — it can break the tracking.
Step 4: Wait for your cashback
Your purchase will show as pending within about seven days, then confirmed once the retailer validates it (30-90 days depending on the retailer). From May 2026, confirmed cashback is paid via bank transfer rather than to your card.
A few things that stop it tracking:
- Using an ad blocker (disable it before clicking through)
- Switching devices mid-purchase
- Using a different card to pay
- Going to the retailer directly rather than clicking through Boosts
Who Can Use Santander Boosts?
You need a Santander UK debit or credit card and to be registered for online or mobile banking. Joint account holders can use it as long as they have their own card. Business cards, corporate cards, cash cards, and cahoot cards aren’t eligible.
Current Santander Boosts Offers (May 2026)
Offers change regularly — sometimes daily — so what’s live when you read this will be different from when I last checked. Log into your Boosts account to see what’s current. The categories typically available include:
- Fashion and beauty: ASOS, Boots, New Look, Superdrug
- Tech: Currys, Samsung, HP
- Food and dining: Just Eat, Deliveroo, Pizza Express
- Travel: Booking.com, Hotels.com, lastminute.com
- Home and garden: B&Q, Dunelm, Homebase
- Sports: Adidas, JD Sports, MyProtein
Cashback rates fluctuate, and Santander occasionally runs promotional higher rates on specific retailers. It’s worth checking before any bigger purchase to see if they’ve got something running.
Santander Boosts vs TopCashback and Quidco
Honestly? Santander Boosts usually doesn’t win on rates. In most side-by-side comparisons, TopCashback and Quidco offer higher cashback percentages.
That said, Santander Boosts occasionally runs exclusive promotions with competitive rates, and the convenience factor is real — it’s integrated into your banking app rather than being a separate account to manage. And from May 2026, with cashback paid via bank transfer, the payout process is actually quite streamlined.
My approach is to check all three before any purchase over about £50. For smaller things, I’ll usually just use whichever I notice first.
When Boosts wins: exclusive promotions, convenience for Santander customers, prize draws with no equivalent elsewhere.
When TopCashback/Quidco wins: most of the time, on rate alone.
Is Santander Boosts Worth It?
If you’re already a Santander customer, yes — absolutely sign up. It’s free, takes ten minutes, and there’s nothing to lose. Even if the rates aren’t always the best, having it as an option costs nothing.
If you’re thinking of switching to Santander specifically for Boosts, I’d say no — not on its own. TopCashback is available to anyone and usually offers better rates.
Who gets the most out of it:
- Santander customers who shop online regularly
- Anyone who likes the simplicity of cashback going straight to their account (or via bank transfer from May 2026)
- People who enjoy a prize draw now and then
Who it’s less useful for:
- Anyone not with Santander
- People who want to maximise cashback rates and don’t mind managing multiple cashback accounts

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Santander Boosts
Check before every online shop. Offers change constantly. I have it bookmarked and make a habit of checking before I hit checkout anywhere.
Enable email notifications so you get alerted to new offers that match your interests. Useful for catching time-sensitive deals.
Compare rates first for bigger purchases. If you’re spending £100+ on something, take a minute to check TopCashback and Quidco as well as Boosts before you decide which to click through.
Stack with discount codes. You can’t combine Boosts with other cashback sites, but you can still use promo codes on top of your Boosts cashback. Always worth a quick search.
Enter the prize draws. Free ones take about ten seconds to enter and occasionally produce something decent.
Keep your payment details updated — especially now cashback is paid via bank transfer from May 2026. Make sure your account information is current in your Boosts settings.
